I checked 19 bank and credit-union rate pages this week. Eighteen of the APYs in our local database changed, and for once the arithmetic leaned in the saver’s direction.
The broadest move came from Addition Financial in Orlando. All six certificate ranges we track increased. Its 60-month certificate rose from 3.14% to 3.87% APY, while the 24-to-35-month range moved from 3.07% to 3.61%.
Las Vegas also improved. America First raised four longer-term certificate ranges. Its 60-month certificate now pays 4.30% APY, up from 4.10%, and its 48-to-59-month range moved to 4.25%.
Denver reversed last week’s declines
Credit Union of Colorado’s official page again lists the six higher APYs that were available before last Wednesday’s reductions. The one-year tier for deposits of at least $10,000 is back at 3.60%; the standard one-year CD is 3.51%. See the current Denver CD rates.
Two Florida specials moved in opposite directions
Florida Credit Union trimmed its 13-month Jacksonville special from 4.25% to 4.15% APY. The seven- and nine-month specials stayed at 3.90% and 4.00%.
In Miami, Dade County Federal Credit Union raised its 12-month share-certificate promotion from 4.00% to 4.10% APY, effective August 24.
The highest rate in our current local database remains Heritage Hub Federal Credit Union’s 4.50% APY jumbo 24-month CD in Houston. It requires a $100,000 deposit, which makes the word “jumbo” rather more than decorative.
The best rate is not always the highest advertised APY. It is the highest worthwhile rate that you can actually open, with a deposit amount and term that suit you.
What I would take from this week
The week was not a uniform rate surge. Fourteen official sources produced no tracked APY changes, and the top offer in the database did not move. Still, the increases in Orlando, Las Vegas, Denver and Miami are useful reminders that local pricing can move against the broader narrative.
Rate pages change quietly. There is rarely an announcement or explanation. That is why the previous values are archived rather than deleted: we can see exactly what changed and when.
If you are considering a CD, confirm the current APY, term, minimum deposit, membership requirements and early-withdrawal penalty directly with the institution before opening it.
